I have just finished my second day of work at Elkhorn Ranch. For the next month we are getting ready to open -- guests do not arrive until November 16th. This means that we are cleaning all the guest cabins, one a day! It really does take that long, when you strip absolutely everything out and scour every surface. So needless to say I am developing good calluses on my fingers and learning more than I'll ever need to know about different floor cleaning solutions!
It is beautiful here and the weather has been perfect -- mid 70s and blue skies. I haven't gotten any pictures online yet but I will soon. It's hard to describe the landscape in words.
Here's something fun: right now they are letting some of the horses roam around the property, while they work on some of their corrals I think. So you can look out the dining room windows and see a few just nosing around a few feet from the door! And this morning, as I lay awake at 4:30 am, I heard their distinctive clip-clop coming closer and closer. I think they walked right by my window. Pretty cool... :-)
